As well as the 3 car ferry routes from Southampton - East Cowes (Red Funnel), Portsmouth - Fishbourne (Wightlink) and Lymington - Yarmouth (Wightlink) which are open to foot passengers, there are also3 high speed, passenger only services.

These are via Hovercraft from Southsea to Ryde Seafront, operated by Hovertravel, by fast ferry from Portsmouth - Ryde Pier head operated by Wightlink and from Southampton to West Cowes operated by Red Funnel.
